Publisher's Synopsis
By 2046, the world, including America herself, finally does begin to collapse. North Korea attacks the United States with nuclear weapons. America responds in kind. Natural disasters worsen. So does the economy. Political/military fires are stoked in Europe and elsewhere, with the help of none other than the ancient bloodthirsty Romanian count known of course as Dracula. World War III seems imminent, as it so often has, except that this time the house of cards won't stand, and the fears will be fulfilled. But the worst thing of all is that the heart, the mind, the spirit, the soul of humanity continues to decay and in fact collapse. People do as they wish. They say whatever they please. They believe in lies or nothing--or, worse yet, they believe the truth and then desert it. They gather together both in America and elsewhere, in a recapitulation of the ancient Tower of Babel theme, to reject their God, to injure others, to deny their own intrinsic natures (especially sexually), to show no fear of wrath-filled Mother Nature herself. Soon enough, however, they will gather together for a different sort of activity at the great Israeli field of Megiddo, or Armageddon, where they will slaughter one another in history's highest numbers...the time for that is not yet here, but it is on its way, and the emerging shadow of Armageddon's nightmare is a more-than-fair reprisal for how the people of the world have done whatever they wished since the beginning of time, especially the last three centuries. The world's people in the last of its last days are led by men like Carl Ring, the murderous Anglo-Saxon immortal who is haunted by his past and who has served and led in various Western armies throughout the centuries, the man who will inaugurate the Third World War and come to rule as the Antichrist; and like Ryan Cooper Preston--U.S. Navy hero, passionate U.S. Senator, and the final president of the United States of America...he is the False Prophet. He is the most essential villain of all--no immortal, no monster, no demonic fiend of night...just a man. Worshipful of self, worshipful of freedom, worshipful of false peace and unity, teaching an entire world that--no matter how many of Ring's bombs fall or Ring's bullets fly, no matter what spectacular earthquakes or floods or fires or catastrophes might assail the globe (even at the hands of God's own visibly present Two Witnesses)--all that matters is the self, all that matters is the moment, all that matters is one's liberty. Soon God will have an answer for these men and women and all who follow them. They are called the "Two Witnesses," men who fill the world with plagues and punishments to warn and wake up souls, and they will provide humanity with its final chance to change before Christ returns to judge His broken, bleeding, sin-and suffering-ruined world. They will be hated, they will be accused, they will be attacked, they will be mocked, they will be rejected by the vast majority of mankind...but they will be heroes, they will be saints, they will be courageous men of God who offer man his last opportunity to change before the trumpet blows and history's curtains draw forever--as Jesus Christ returns, and as all who yet defy Him are sent to Hell's literal fire for all eternity. This is part one of an exciting new series about the end of the world, and is a sequel to "Starfall: A Novel of the Apocalypse," which is the epic of Braeden Darcloch, a very unusual Scotsman who was once a vampire before becoming a valiant superhero and then a passionate apocalyptic evangelist. In "Meet Me by the Lane" Darcloch, having known Carl Ring for two centuries, will be in a unique position to oppose him. As you read this series, ask yourself this: as the world worsens, as America decays, as wars and hurricanes and troubles rock our globe, are you right with God? Do you know His Son? Will you be ready when it is God's time for you, whether you live to see these things or not?
