Publisher's Synopsis

The premier award for bravery in the Israel Defense Forces is the Medal of Valor (Hebrew עיטור הגבורה). There have been only 40 recipients of this medal since 1948. This book, Men of Valor, by Israeli author Peter Bailey tells the stories of these 40 modern heroes of Israel in a biographical format. Read about these latter-day heroes, their origins, commanders and comrades in arms, their meritorious acts of gallantry and their lives in the aftermath of the award. South African born Peter Bailey, now living in Israel, is an avid researcher of military history. "Men of Valor" is the result of such research. After payment of the cost of publishing, proceeds from the sale of this book will be used by AWIS (Association for the Wellbeing of Israel's Soldiers) through the offices of Yahad English Speaking Branch in Israel, to fund the refurbishment of a clubhouse on an I.D.F. military base in Israel. Yahad is the only organization authorized to receive donations for the welfare and wellbeing of IDF soldiers. Thereafter, 50% of all profits from the sale of the book will go to Yahad.
