The aim of this book is to provide student midwives with a comprehensive textbook, although references for further reading extend its use for the trained midwife. The text is arranged in a logical sequence corresponding with the current UK syllabus of midwifery training. For the second edition the existing material has been expanded, and new chapters on sociological, psychological and medico-legal aspects associated with childbearing, as well as an introduction to genetics, have been added.
