Publisher's Synopsis
Mobile homes became established as a form of short term, low cost housing after World War II. Since then various reviews have taken place and in 1988 the Department of the Environment initiated a programme of research to obtain more information on the extent and nature of the mobile homes sector, and on the issues raised in previous reviews of legislation. This report presents the findings of a postal survey and looks at sites of more than two units (excluding gypsy sites). The number of permanent residential homes and sites, the role of local authorities in regulating mobile home sites, and local authority policies are all analyzed.
