Publisher's Synopsis
This text presents abstracts taken from the 11th Symposium on Molecular Biology of Haematopoiesis, and focuses on the treatment of myeloproliferative diseases. Areas discussed include the management and treatment of breast cancer, an update on which haematopoietic progenitor cell should be transplanted to ensure sustained engraftment, preclinical data on the use of COX inhibitors for cancer treatment, dendritic cell activation for treatment of metastatic tumours in liver and colon cancer and an update on the clinical application of IL-11 and IL-5.;The abstracts aim to provide the reader with information on research and development on cancer therapy and immunotherapy for molecular biology of haematopoiesis. Further contributions discuss areas such as stem cell factors in blood processing during aphoresis and strategies in treatment of AML, child solid tumours and leukaemia, clinical advances in mismatched stem cells and the role of megadose stem cell transplants in BMT, the use of BMT for organ transplants an autoimmune disease, paediatric oncology and the use of cytokines in infant leukaemia, and progress in pathogenesis and novel biological approaches for gene transfer and vector development for gene therapy.
