About the Author
Carol Schulte's life centers around being a wife, mother, grandmother and a thirty-year career as a respected Realtor in Monmouth County, NJ. In 1998 she was diagnosed with a mild case of early onset Parkinson's requiring a low dose of medication.
Knowing nothing about PD she took the diagnosis as a death sentence. Carol changed doctors a few times before finding a motion disorder specialist and drug regimen best for her.
Carol has devoted much of her life to understanding and mitigating her PD challenges and firmly believes everyone deserves the best quality of life possible no matter what. This requires dedication of patients, their family and friends. The keys to success are knowledge, effort, an empathetic motion disorder specialist, exercise, and an active social life.
Carol, a certified Research Advocate for the Parkinson's Foundation and a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Ambassador, has participated in 22 research trials and studies, mentored patients, and been featured in three educational videos. Carol presented two educational forums on the benefits of exercise on PD, and represented patients in public forums alongside distinguished doctors and scientists.
