This book is a wide ranging outline of ancestors of Susan J. Brownlee. It includes her direct line of Brownlee ancestors back to about the year 1300. Also included are the Singletary, Shuler, and Segrest branches of her family tree. Some branches are extended to show her connection to iconic figures from history including George Washington and Queen Elizabeth II.
Susan Jane Brownlee Reed is a housewife and mother of two sons. She was born at Ft. Bragg, NC and spent much of her childhood in and around Ridgeville, SC. She came of age in Warner Robins, GA. Susan traveled far and wide with her military husband until 1992 when they decided to make their home in Warner Robins, GA. In 2005 she uprooted again to move to Winston-Salem, NC where she resides today.
She began her genealogy research in 1995 after discovering research already started by her uncle and her father. As the internet capabilities expanded, so did her research. She was able to view and extract records without having to travel from home. She discovered her cousin was also researching their family history and began collaborating with him.
He concentrated on the civil war era of the Brownlee branch of the tree, while Susan focused on the wider view of her entire family tree.
Family has always been Susan's anchor in life.
This book is her attempt to define and illustrate her rich heritage.
