In "NIGGAZ GOT EMOTIONS TOO: A Mental Health Journey In Poem", 17-year old Maria Lourdes Byers struggles to face herself in an impending world that mentally incarcerates her. Maria Lourdes speaks of her struggles with suicidal, homicidal, Utopian, and existential thoughts as well as dark fantasies. Spanning the past five years, Maria Lourdes Byers has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety (GAD), Depression (MDD), Schizoaffective Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder. She currently suffers from these diagnoses and copes by creating. Being a Psychology student at East-West University, Maria is constantly on the cusp of a new mental discovery. She plans on releasing more poetry books, essay collections, novels, and an autobiography in the near future.
