Publisher's Synopsis
This book is a personal & philosophical exploration of narcissism in an economic context. My theory of history is that there's collective co-creation in a society and within an economic system. When this collective co-creation is narcissistic, it leads to the eventual collapse of that society & economic system. Historical materialism does an excellent job explaining how a superstructure in a society/economic system works and evolves. However, it doesn't explain why superstructures form in the first place or the interaction of the base with the respective superstructure. From my perspective, collective psychological elements are what bring these superstructures into being. I look at the mechanics of this collective co-creation, comparing narcissistic & non-narcissistic approaches. I also provide some historical & modern examples to illustrate my points. I use some strong language throughout the book, so if you're easily offended, buy the book for a friend. As a thank you gesture, they can read the book to you while omitting the colourful language.
