In this courageous and unsparing account, Nárez describes every aspect of her life as a Jehovah's Witness: the influence and control the organization exerts over its members from infancy, the prohibitions, the workings of its hierarchy, the indoctrination... up to the last time she hugged her father, knowing that she would never see him again after being expelled from the community.
In the years since, she has rebuilt her life and her identity through "worldly" experiences she wouldn't have dared to dream of before.
In addition to giving voice to a hidden and silenced reality, the author reflects on topics such as guilt, shame, a sense of belonging, and the high price that must sometimes be paid for freedom.
