Publisher's Synopsis
I wrote this book for the following reasons:
- I am a retired U.S. Army medical officer, served in two wars,
wounded in the first, and will be buried in Mount Holly Cemetery.
- I had a Great Grandfather who served in the Confederate Army of
Tennessee at Shiloh, TN. He is buried in Little Rock as well.
- I had a Grandfather who, as as hospital commander in WWI,
recruited and mobilized a Red Cross hospital. The hospital was
deployed to England. My grandfather was deployed to France as
Chief Surgeon of the 12th Field Hospital in France in 1919.
- There are 18 Confederate Military Surgeons buried in Mount
Holly Cemetery.
- Post Civil War, all of the Mount Holly physicians participated in
the advancement of medicine in the state of Arkansas.
I hope you will enjoy the medical history of these physicians.
They should not be forgotten.
