Publisher's Synopsis

The four books in this series covers the Standard Grade and GCSE mathematics syllabus and are designed for students in the 14-16 year old age range.;The Blue Book is an introductory book and covers topics that students will have come across in the lower school. It also contains a section of tests which relate directly to the units and which provide a profile of the student's mathematical attainment and so will enable the teacher to make decisions on appropriate starting points. The Yellow Book and the Red Book provide a parallel course for general and intermediate level students. The content of the course is divided between the two books to allow for flexibility and economy of use as the books can be studied in any order, and also used with different groups or years, and then swapped. The Green Book is for credit level and those taking the higher level GCSE.;The activities in the books are designed to encourage independent learning. The material develops and consolidates concepts through worked examples and exercises. Students can work through the units on their own as cues are provided for teacher intervention. The investigative tasks do not require supplementary data and are therefore manageable in the classroom. Throughout there are key questions to assess competence, answers to all questions, and associated revision/homework units containing reminder facts and exercises.;A teacher's manual is also available which contains content and syllabus notes, advice on relevant software, solutions to investigations and key questions and their answers.
