Publisher's Synopsis

In "Of Gods and Lemurs," Jack Cohen has written two stories, "The Tolerant Atheist" and "Discovering Humanity" that cover quite different subjects and yet they share a common fascination with the world we live in and how it works. In "The Tolerant Atheist," the author explains why he rejects God and formal religion and yet accepts the sincere belief of others in the religion of their choice. "Discovering Humanity" is a fictional account of an expedition to research the lemurs of Madagascar by a seriously damaged individual, based on a true story. During that period I had visited Portugal with an organized group to see sites of Jewish heritage and I had written a journal of my trip. I had also written a short story "Phoenix Phoenix," about the redemption of a woman who had been trapped into a life of drugs and sex. Quite a heady mix. There must be a connecting thread in my consciousness. Hopefully the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
