This is not your ordinary counting book! The book focuses on numbers zero-ten, including the Spanish word and also the American Sign Language sign for each number. All the mixed media and watercolor illustrations are original and colorful, featuring animals not normally featured in books of this type. Each illustration has a rhyme that coincides with the featured number. The reader spells, traces, and practices different ways to say the number all the way through. Watch as flowers bloom throughout the book, leading to an interactive counting page. Also included in the book are the necessary pieces and instructions for creating a concentration type matching game based on the animals in the book. Not only are reading, writing and counting skills emphasized but, inclusion of other communities, encouragement of learning about those different from ourselves by learning the numbers in Spanish and ASL, practicing following directions and even sharing through playing the matching game created by the book recipient or reading with a friend or family member.
