Publisher's Synopsis
A semi-autobiographical novel in which 14-year-old Nancy, brought up in Assam in the 1940s, returns with her family to Guernsey, which she finds to her horror is a cold and hostile place. Her relatives are preoccupied with her uncle's disappearance after being liberated from a POW camp.
