Publisher's Synopsis
Paula Winslow, a young lady considered a princess in the South of 1855 where cotton farmers were the first multi-millionaries. They lived as kings in palaces served by slaves who were treated worse than the vassal under the feudal system. Paula finds herself an orphan without family to protect her. Without any means of making a living and she has to fight for her life by lies and intrigue. All the time while she tries to make a life for herself a murderer desires to kill her. Another man seeks to dishonor her and destroy her family name.
