Publisher's Synopsis
Snippets from Advanced Reviews:
"There isn't any of the pretension that often occurs while writing poetry...here, the honesty shines through."- Paro Anand (Sahitya Akademi, Bal Sahitya Award winning novelist) "I am wonder-stuck."
- Amrita Bhalla (Associate Professor of English at Jesus and Mary College) "...Kanishk Devgan is such a precocious poet that he wields diction and syntax, imagery, symbolism, and other figurative languages and a variety of lofty themes and topics, surpassing many of the contemporary senior poets of the world. I have no doubt that Kanishk will conquer the heights of poetry and immortalize his name in the history of English poetry."
- K. V. Dominic (Poet, critic, and Secretary of the Guild of Indian English Writers, Editors and Critics (GIEWEC)) A Note: When I was fifteen, I read a poem of mine to a poet from The Poetry Society of India. She asked me to send more, and seeing the potential for a collection, recommended me to her publisher. I had been writing poetry for a while by that point, piecing together my adolescent identity in the backs of textbooks, on scraps of paper, and in my trusty Notes(TM) app. I've grown a lot since then as a writer. I don't read these poems now as I did then. What they offer, to me, is a recollection of a past. What these poems offer to you, I do not know. Since my one-year contract with the publisher expired, the first edition is out of print. Although I was proud of my work, I hid this collection for many years. I don't know why (or maybe I do). But I've grown as a person too. And so here I am, publishing this second edition because I owe it to fifteen-year-old Kanishk.
