"This collection was made in the early 1970s, mainly in Herefordshire but with a few additions from Gloucestershire and Radnorshire. Since then the three volumes, in which it was mounted have lain forgotten for some fifty years during which time attitudes towards making such a collection have changed dramatically and it will probably never be repeated. We therefore decided to have the collection photographed, each plant written up with colloquial names, some of their previous uses, unusual facts and features and added some poetic references. Some of the plants have now been reclassified because of genetic analysis and placed in different generic groups but they are still named and categorised in the 1970's order"--Preface.
