Publisher's Synopsis
When artist Clive Hexley, R.A., vanishes, Chief Inspector Calthorp of Scotland Yard is called upon to look into the disappearance, and his investigations lead him to question Hexley's ex-fiancée, Elsa Farraday. Elsa confesses that she has murdered the artist. The girl's peculiar manner puzzles Calthorp, and he hesitates to make an arrest, particularly as Hexley's body cannot be found. It is not until Calthorp calls in Dr. Adam Castle, the psychiatrist investigator, that the strange mystery of Elsa's behaviour and the artist's disappearance is solved.
