Harper (1863-1943) was an English author and illustrator who wrote many self-illustrated travel books exploring the regions, roads, coastlines, literary connections, etc., of Britain. In addition he also wrote a few books on drawing and its technique and this anti-feminist polemic illustrated with his own drawings and published in 1894 at a time when the feminist ideal of the "New Woman" was very topical.
