After an attack left him a changeling - half vampire and half human - Dirk Adams has hunted vampires. Little did he know his search would lead him to Dr. Bethany Stavinoski - the top biochemist with Van Horne Technologies. She loves her job but her current project baffles her - things aren't adding up and her boyfriend Miles, the company CEO, won't answer her questions. Just when she thinks he's going to confide in her, he proposes instead and just when she thinks things can't get stranger, her lab is destroyed, her assistant is missing and the security guard is dead from puncture wounds to the throat. It looks like the work of Harris and Patterson...and Bethany hates standing on the sidelines. Dirk knows that a normal bodyguard is useless so starts to protect Bethany without telling her. But the more he protects her, the more intrigued he becomes by her. What will Bethany say when she discovers he's a changeling?
