Publisher's Synopsis
A large ranch property on Florida's West-Central Gulf of Mexico coast is developing for residential housing. The land surface begins to collapse in a sinkhole during the clearing of the land, dragging construction equipment into it. Struggling to pull a large grader from the sinkhole, the contractors see two human legs appearing in the wall of slowly, downward-moving sand.
Means, motive, and opportunity for the murder are missing. The Mann County Sheriff's Office struggles to investigate the crime, with a doughnut-loving, rock and mineral shop owner, a wannabe geologist, wanting to help.
