Sitting in the Bloom of Us tells the story of a mother/son connection. Using prose and poetry, John Hutchinson records his mother's words, many times verbatim, as they discuss how to cook kale, plan a burial, or argue over the size of a tip. What is at the very core of these recollections and reflections is the impact these conversations have on both mother and son. We are invited in to the world of growing up through the Depression, raising four children in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and the simplicity of her life in later years.
