Publisher's Synopsis

Prison reform is much needed in the United States, but even more so in Texas. In Texas, incarceration is not rehabilitative as it should be, but punitive. From the incarceration of the innocent, unjust sentencing, to the lack of air conditioning
in the swelting heat conditions only because some have made bad choices, while others just happened to trust the wrong people. Still, others were sentenced with harsh sentences because of the people they were with at the time of a crime. Stories are written by men that are guilty, and also men that are innocent. Not only are the people that are incarcerated serving time, but loved ones serve t time with them too. They visit, as well as, place money on their books and phones. Connections with loved ones are cut off for various reasons. Should those guilty of crimes be sentenced accordingly, yes, but sentences should fit the crimes. They should still be treated like human beings that made bad choices that hurt others; whether it was physical or financially. Those that have been sentenced without fair trials should be given an opportunity to defend themselves. Some changes are necessary and need to happen soon. Our bad decisions do not determine who we will be in the future.
