After completing his monastic training, Lokananda C. Bhikkhu attended University of Sri Lanka-Kelaniya where he read Buddhism and Indology then, migrated to the United States. There he attended University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University-Long Beach (CSULB), San Jose State University, University of the West, Rosemead and received the degrees of BA. MA. MLIS. PhD and a Diploma in Buddhist Studies.

He worked in various Public and Educational Libraries for over twenty years. He has attended various Workshops, Seminars, and Conferences all over Europe, Asia and the United States. He has edited the Abhidharmakosa of Acarya Vasubandhu (Buddhist World Press, New Delhi, India, 2018) and various papers. He is currently the President & Chief Incumbent of Bangla-America Buddhist Fellowship (Sambodhi Vihara) in Long Beach, California.
