Publisher's Synopsis
The authors of this book have made a concerted effort to explore the connections and mutual implications of the three most exciting developments within the broad field of post-Marxist theorizing. Although orthodox Marxism was rightly in theoretical and policical crisis in the 1970s, there were still enough Marxist scholars to build creatively on past achievements. This is especially clear in the self-professed "Post-Marxist" discourse analysis of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe (1985).
