Publisher's Synopsis

Linda Peters has followed her drunken brother to the town of Chasco and into the town's lone saloon. She is trying to get him on his feet when an ex-boyfriend and several other drunks from the Bar B Ranch begin tormenting her. Then a stranger, Stoner, enters the drunken atmosphere and immediately clashes with Linda's tormentors. Later he helps her take her brother home to their ranch, the Rocking H, where he clashes with the owners of the Bar B, who want the Rocking H and have ridden to its headquarters with plans to kill Mrs. Peters and her children by catching them in a gun battle between themselves and Rocking H punchers. Stoner still plans to continue riding westward in spite of the dangerous fight the Peters family is caught in, but Mrs. Peters reminds him so much of his own long-lost mother, and he finds himself so physically and emotionally attracted to Linda, that he continues delaying his departure until it is too late. He must fight to save himself and the two Peters women, if not the ranch. At first he finds himself hesitant to again become the killer he once was, but then Mrs. Peters is killed, viciously, and Linda is attacked and kidnapped. He can no longer control the gunfighter and killer hidden in his depths.
