This book is about the T S Kaye & Sons, Hull, family tool business which was started in the 19th century by the author's great-grandfather and is no longer in existence. At one time there were many branches of Kayes, not only in Hull, but in Goole, Nottingham, and Middlesbrough. It was a unique venture with its imprint on the cutlery and tools, which are now world-famous collectors' items in some niche markets. She feels that this history needs to be preserved since she is the daughter of the last Kaye partner in the business in the Hull Branch, Herbert Kaye, she is in a unique position to write this up, both from memory and her research.
