Publisher's Synopsis
Ramesses III is a man held together by pride and paranoia. The veil of perfection he created over the past three decades is crumbling. It has come to the pharaoh's attention that all of his wives have been unfaithful, and the royal children's allegiances now waver on the eve of their father's rejuvenation ceremony, the Sed Festival. Celebrating the elite is hardly on the agenda for the striking working class though. Now the masses have brought their attacks directly against the palace walls, demanding fair pay, food, and working conditions. Due to her background, Tesamun volunteers against the advice of the palace to act as a middle man to quiet the unrest but she's not the answer her people want. The royal inner circle fractures with sides being taken amongst the servants, and harem. Rifts are further divided when the royal children are forcibly married for Ramesses' benefit but rather than bringing the family together, it's pushed some past their limits. Will Tesamun survive the bloodshed that consumes the palace?
