The way in which the Pericope, John was introduced into the text, from which it was originally wanting, is a further point of interest. A century or two after the manuscript was written two leaves, 3 and 6, were removed from the 4ist quire, and three leaves, 3, 6, and 7, were inserted in their places to make possible the introduction of the Pericope. The hand of these new leaves, while not at all the same as that of the chronological section, can be shown on paleographical grounds to belong to their period, and this suggests that these two alterations in the manuscript belong to the same time - the end of the thirteenth century. But the chronological leaves seem from their condition to have been old when they were inserted in the present manuscript, and probably found their way into it at a later date.
