Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Browne Readers, Vol. 1: First Year First Half

Too much stress cannot be laid upon the use of the dramatic element in the stories. Self - activity and interest go hand in hand. Each story can be played can be acted by the children.

The same can be said when teaching the word and the sentence. In teaching the visible form of run, let the child run; of sweeping, let him go through the motions of sweeping. In the silent reading of an action sentence, to test Whether the child knows the meaning of What he has silently read, let him put the thought of the sentence into action. Take, fer example, the sentence The baby frog came hopping back to his mother. Ask a child to show what the baby frog did. If the child has read the thought of the sentence, he will hop!
