Administration building, eastern exposure. Situated at the west end of the Great Court. Designed by Richard M. Hunt. It is, in its main body, an octagon, about 100 feet across, with a pavilion 84 feet square at each corner. It rises to a height of 275 feet, and its gilded dome is a striking landmark from all parts of the grounds. It is adorned with twenty-eight groups of statuary and many single figures and bas-reliefs. The beauty of this building has been recognized as fully abroad as in this country, and its distinguished architect has been the recipient of many honors from foreign art associations. Cost.
