Publisher's Synopsis

Lyubov Fyodorovna Dostoieffskaya (1869-1926) was a Russian author, memoirist and daughter of the famous writer Fyodor Dostoieffsky who died when she was eleven. She never married and in later life became estranged from her mother and moved out of their house. In 1913, after a trip abroad for medical treatment, she decided against returning to Russia and lived abroad until her death in Italy from pernicious anaemia. She is best known for her memoir of her father 'Dostoieffsky as Portrayed by His Daughter', originally published in Munich in 1920, and in English translation the following year with an American edition in 1922. The work has been shown to contain many factual inaccuracies, partly because she was very young when her father died, and partly because much of it is based on her mother's stories which were inevitably biassed against his first wife, Mariya Isayeva. This novel about a Russian woman living in Italy was first published in 1913 and in English translation in 1916.
