Publisher's Synopsis
In the storming of mexico city, cavillin's and chilton's men fight together against the slaughterous mexican artillery, and cavillin rescues the gravely wounded chilton moments before the notorious mexican general, santa ana, descimates the bloody battlefield with his cannon. The recouperating chilton dissatisfied with the reparation tribute paid by mexico, leads a renegade band of dragoons on a marauding spree, robbing every mexican town he encounters of its silver and gold. Tom cavillin is ordered to catch matt chilton and the pillaging dragoons. Cavillin bears no grudge against his fellow officer and understands chilton's motives, but law and order must be preserved in vanquished mexico so he starts tackling his friend. But when chilton is finally stabbed by a smuggler he has crossed, cavillin avenges the death and turns over chilton's plundered fortune to the u.s.
