Charles Wayland Towne (1875-? ) was an American author and humorist. He wrote under the pseudonym Gideon Wurdz. His works include: The Foolish Dictionary (1904), Foolish Finance (1905), Eediotic Etiquette (1906), The New Foolish Dictionary (1914) and 'Her Majesty Montana' (1939). Later in his life, he co-authored Edward N. Wentworth in writing some of his works including: Shepherd's Empire (1945), Pigs: From Cave to Corn Belt (1950) and Cattle and Men (1955).
