Publisher's Synopsis

It's 1941. Naval Reserve officer Chuck Collings has just graduated from the University of Washington with a Masters of Fisheries degree. His naval service has been delayed while he continues his research in salmon reproduction in the small town of Lofall. Chuck's job on the Lofall-Southpoint ferry brings him into contact with many locals and visitors, including a beautiful blonde. Lofall is a quiet town so Chuck's second job of watching the jail at night gives him a place to stay and little to do - until the police chief is murdered. To add to the mystery, the naval base commander is found murdered and a local Japanese fisherman is suspected. And then Pearl Harbor is attacked. Suddenly all of the talk of spies becomes real. Chuck is placed on active naval duty and told to investigate. Thank heavens for the help of the beautiful blonde.
