William Alexander (1567-1640) was a Scottish poet and bishop who was highly regarded during his lifetime but whose reputation has since waned. This collection of his works includes his epic poem 'The Christiad' as well as several plays and shorter poems. While Alexander is not a household name today, his work is an interesting and important contribution to the literary canon of seventeenth-century Scotland.
