As the young Guenevere comes to terms with the violent, sudden death of her mother, she faces the prospect of becoming Queen of the Summer Country with trepidation, but also a fierce determination. As others plot to weaken her powers by seeking her hand in marriage, Arthur, travelling the country seeking to reunite the land his father ruled, arrives in time to take her hand himself. A sumptuous wedding takes place, but immediately after the King and Queen are thrown into turmoil as Arthur's enemies seek to destroy him.
