Publisher's Synopsis
After Gabrielle's mother dies her father sends her to be educated by the Rev. Marmaduke Considine. Gabrielle meets a naval officer in Dublin but their encounter is shattered by tragedy. Persuaded into a loveless marriage with Considine the couple move to Devon where a new tragedy awaits Gabrielle.
