There is even some danger of defenders of auricular confession dwelling more on the advantage and relief of unbosoming spiritual doubts than on the sacramental grace and remission conveyed authoritatively by the priestly absolution. Dean Delany does not fall into this mistake, though his little book deals rather with the practical benefits of confessing sins than with the theological aspect of a Gospel ordinance.
