Yet in spite of these obstacles, Vernon and Jeekie soon discover the lost race of the Asikis, a mysterious civilization ruled by a beautiful yet evil woman reminiscent of Ayesha from Haggard's classic novel, "She." Things become ever so complicated when her heart is captured by the British adventurer's strength and charm and she sees him as her returned lover. Unfortunately for Vernon, she also decides to keep him around-permanently.
