Thirst Identity - Thirst

The writer of Psalm 42 uses the vivid imagery of a thirsty deer panting for the waters of a cool, flowing stream to describe the way that his soul longed for God. This thirst for God is the mark of those who have experienced God. Maybe you already have this yearning for more of God, or maybe you want to develop it in your life, or maybe you're not really sure what to think about God and the Bible. No matter where you are spiritually, our prayer is that you would dig into the Word of God and find it quenching. This book is designed to be a supplement to help you understand and apply what you are reading; it should not and cannot replace your Bible. The focus of your devotional time should be God and His word. To get the most out of your devotional time, you need to open your Bible and spend time in prayer. This Thirst devotional focuses on our identity in Christ. A prerequisite to having this identity is that we be "in Christ." This means that in order for the things that you read about in this devo to be true in your life, you need to believe in Jesus Christ and have a personal relationship with Him. If you do not have this and you want it, all you have to do is confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead. That is the key step, but it is just the beginning of a relationship with God.
