"In the late 1980s, Peter Carroll was interested in starting a renaissance festival in Ohio. He successfully co-operated such a festival in Georgia and had plans to expand. A year later found him and a partner with a contract for 106 acres of prime land in the heart of the Cincinnati-Dayton-Columbus triangle. The Ohio Renaissance Festival opened on September 1, 1990, and approximately forty thousand visitors toured the grounds, set in Elizabethan-era England, over the next five weekends . In 2019, the festival celebrates its thirtieth year. The grounds have expanded both physically and in entertainment provided. The festival is now open for nine weekends, has numerous restaurants and food offerings, a plethora of entertainment options including the crowd favorite joust, and over one hundred artisans showing and demonstrating their wares"--.
