Barrister Simon Silver is being held to emotional ransom. A four year old girl has been kidnapped and Simon's client knows where she is. He'll give the Police the key to her whereabouts, but only in exchange for his own freedom, and on the condition that the kidnappers go free. By getting to them first, Simon is the only one who can save the girl. If he fails, she will never be found. If he succeeds, the kidnappers will strike again...
