When a cloud of MM-88, a deadly virus intended for use in biological weapons, is released in a mountain plane crash, the chances for human survival look very slim indeed. The virus spreads at an alarming speed, wiping out population after population, until all that is left of humankind is a group of 855 men and women who have made their base in an Antarctic research station.
