James Adams is a slave in Charleston, South Carolina in the Adams household. Although his master and mistress are benevolent people. James craves Freedom. Numerous conflicts arise including a slave rebellion and the outbreak of the American Civil War. James acquires his freedom and takes a job on a ship, hoping to establish his new identity. Despite his efforts, James is caught in the seemingly endless storm of the conflicts of the present and memories of the past. Does freedom come with a price? Will James ever find the freedom he longs for before the storm destroys his life?
