Publisher's Synopsis
This book is not a typical commentary. It is not a detailed exposition on every verse or phrase within Mark. Rather, it is an attempt to understand Mark's entire gospel by following certain themes that run throughout. The Gospel of Mark is comprised of approximately 71 individual stories. Often, those who study Mark come away with 71 individual lessons. But Mark selected and arranged these particular stories as he did because they all have something to say about one important issue: Who is Jesus? This commentary approaches Mark with this understanding, giving the reader an overall understanding of Mark's main intent and, therefore, the true meaning of Mark's gospel.
