William Caperton Richmond, also known as 'Devil Bill' Richmond, was a Lieutenant in the American Civil War, serving in the 184 Virginia Militia. Later, he was a district school commissioner in the newly formed state of West Virginia, and a Justice of the Peace in the Raleigh County Court System. In 1868, he was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates, where he served until his death. This volume contains a biography of Richmond's life, as well as numerous family tree records, historical documents and photographs that would be of interest to his relatives as well as those interested in the history of West Virginia and the Civil War.
