Publisher's Synopsis

This book was created to give children the opportunity to learn about Friesian horses. There are only approximately five thousand pure Friesians in the United States. The breed was so diluted at a certain time, that the pure breed was almost extinct. The Friesian Registry declared that no other breed could be crossed with a Friesian in order to revive the breed and keep it pure. The author purchased William ten years ago because he was the perfect example of what a Friesian should be. Because the breed is not common, and are quite costly, they are not widely known. She wanted to introduce William as the main character of the book so that others could learn how beautiful and special he was. William has spent his life as the perfect companion to the author and she wanted to share her love for him in this book.

Diane Wentzel lives in Ohio on a hobby farm with seven horses, four dogs and six cats. Her love of horses has spanned her lifetime, starting with her first horse that was given to her at age 8 as a gift from her Grandfather. She purchased William approximately ten years ago after learning about the Friesian horse breed and how rare and special they are. Because of her deep love of horses, she loves to share the knowledge she has and thinks it's very important that children learn about horses, especially the Friesian breed. Look for future books featuring all of the horse breeds she owns, Gypsy Vanner, Belgian, Shire and Haflinger
