Publisher's Synopsis

Celia and her father run the family business, Huffam's, a toy museum. It opened its doors in the 1700s and the wide-eyed children filing past ever since have imbued the toys with the power of their fantasies and imagination. This intense energy manifests itself in strange ways. When a hole is ripped through time and space, Celia accidentally falls through it, and is followed by Lither, a particularly unpleasant ventriloquist dummy, and his two sidekicks. On the other side, Celia meets WillieSmak WidderShins, a giant Weta and uninspired musician. He has become lost while on his OE and is travelling aimlessly through the dimensions. Meanwhile, Lither and his cohorts materialise in the middle of a bloody Red and Black Ant battle. Lither befriends DogLiQ, Lord of the black ant army. And so a series of adventures see the two sides pitched against each other, Lither holding together an alliance of Mother Nature's most mortal enemies and Celia finding herself at the head of the most unlikely 'band' of musician-heroes. As the battle unfolds, readers will confront the mechoRoaches, a hideous crossbreed of cockroaches fitted with mechanised caterpillar tracks, soldiers who have circular saws and food processor accessories to replace their lost limbs, and characters including Smokin' Joe who, armed with his BazookaHorn, will ensure you'll never look at fruit and vegetables the same way again. And do not ask for whom the cow bell tolls (for it brings Wormwood Scrubs - bounty hunter). Williesmak Widdershins is a young adult story - a tongue in cheek romp with kidult appeal; "Alice in Wonderland" meets Kafka.
